I am afraid I have never worked on this system, so I have no information on it. KE Jetronic is just an upgrade from the K Jetronic, it is still a mechanical hydraulic system (CIS). The system now incorporated a throttle position switch (TPS), Engine Temp sensor, external fuel pressure regulator, an ECU and an Oxygen sensor. Fundamentally it operates just like the K, however it now receives data from these sensors to the ECU. The ECU will then generate an output signal to the fuel distributor control unit (7) which will control the metering of the fuel electronically. I cannot see the internal working of the fuel distributor but I am guessing that it probably does this by electronically adjusting the control pressure on the control plunger. The ECU now replaces the control pressure regulator and allows for much finer control of the injection system.
